Our All-American opener begins with American Salute, Morton Gould’s powerful tribute to the American spirit based on a Civil War tune, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” Soaring melodies by composer Alan Hovhaness transport us to majestic peaks in his Symphony No. 2, “Mysterious Mountain.” The Neave Trio make their first appearance with the Wartburg Community Symphony in Robert Paterson’s Triple Concerto, Summit, which examines climate change amid beautiful tone portraits of nature, birds, land, and seascapes.
