World Premiere of New York Stories for two singers and chamber ensemble at Mostly Modern Festival, featuring librettos by New York City-based librettists and scenes inspired by the Five Boroughs. Librettists include Mark Campbell, David Cote, Margot Connolly, Briana Elyse Hunter, John de los Santos, and Sokunthary Svay.
A spectacular line-up of 20th & 21st-century arias, art songs, and song cycles, including Robert Paterson’s and David Cote’s Extraordinary for soprano, baritone, and chamber ensemble. Ten top vocalists from across the United States & abroad will be showcasing their talents, from the avant-garde to post-modern romance.
Performance of Dark Mountains by Robert Paterson, as well as American Modern Orchestra, featuring Ward Stare, conductor, and Bradley Adam Bascon, violin, one of the two winners of AMO’s first annual concerto competition.

Performance of Enlightened City by Robert Paterson, also featuring works by MMF Composer and others, lead by Maestra Ruth Reinhardt.
Performance of Autumn Songs 1 and 2 for mezzo-soprano and piano, and performance of the aria Mother of Poisons from Carmilla reduced for soprano and piano, with MMF Faculty members Blythe Gaissert, mezzo-soprano, Rachel Schutz, soprano, and Anthony de Mare, piano.

The American Modern Choir (AMC) will feature two works by Mostly Modern Festival Artistic Director Robert Paterson, A New Eaarth for orchestra, chorus and narrator, and Whitman’s America, for orchestra, chorus, and soprano and baritone soloists. Kent Tritle, conductor.
